Asylum Chapel Peckham Wedding Photographer|Lucy & James’ wedding part 1!

London, Wedding

I genuinely don’t know where to start with this banger of a wedding I photographed last year. When Lucy & James’ got in touch and told me they planned to have their ceremony at Asylum Chapel in Peckham and later onto Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding venue I obviously tripped over myself in excitement. Asylum Chapel in Peckham is a beauty of a chapel and was the perfect place for Lucy & James’ relaxed London wedding ceremony.

When Lucy first emailed about their London plans it was a total twist of fate. Turns out we had been at the same University (shout out to Nottingham Trent!) at the same time and our courses had worked on the same floor. Combined with likely being at the same nightclubs and bars for the 3 years of living in Nottingham. On top of that…when Lucy first began her search for an alternative wedding photographer I was also recommended. All in all…it was fate!

The couple had their gorgeous wedding on a sunny day in August. The weather could not have been any more perfect and created such a lovely contract from the gothic vibes of Asylum Chapel in Peckham

The Asylum Chapel may lead you to initially believe it was indeed an Asylum for the insane. The word was actually first referred to as ‘sanctuary’. As the chapel sits in a beautiful complex of almshouses in Peckham, South London, it was seen as the sanctuary for the older generation to retire and find some peace in their later years.

Now, The Asylum Chapel in Peckham is one of the most sought after wedding ceremony venues in London. From its wonderful location, gorgeous interior, and large enough to house a good crowd of guests, it serves as the perfect alternative wedding venue. With both of Lucy’s parents walking her down the aisle, the couples’ ceremony was so incredible them; they laughed their way through the vows, had wonderful readings from Lucy’s Mum and her brother’s partner sang beautifully while the couple signed the register

With time for a big group shot and some quick couple portraits inside Asylum Chapel, we were then off on an exciting and slightly top secret journey to Trinity Buoy Wharf for the couples’ epic wedding reception. Check out part 2 of Lucy & James’ London wedding adventure next week!
